In rememberance

I just received very sad news, the world has lost one of its brightest citizens, Lieutenant Colonel (R) Jim Victor was called home to the Lord yesterday, May 26, 2009. I don’t know too many details but wanted to record this in history for this is a man who has touched and help shape the lives of so many midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy, my late husband, Scott included.

You will be missed my dear friend!

Week 7

Lots of going-ons this week, the biggest being Eli's first road trip! We decided to visit with Grandpa and Nini this Memorial Day weekend and packed the car to the brim and took the 6 hour drive down to Alabama. Amazingly, the Little Guy was so well behaved and needed to stop once each way for a diaper change and burping session.

Overall, it was a successful trip, Eli enjoyed being loved on by both his god-mothers, aunts and grandparents. I was initially nervous about him adapting to the new place but he took it all in stride.

Also, a milestone this week is that he's gotten the hang of being potty trained. Probably a bit too much information, but I am amazed that someone so little can understand what he needs to do.

Afternoon 'constitution'

Other than that, we've been enjoying our time together at home with my mother and taking little excursions... I am dreading the thought of having to go back to work in 5 weeks but hopefully it will not be too bad. Any advice from those out there who've been through this?

Chilling after a nice warm bath.

Good news, my mum's visa got extended till April next year so I was thinking that she can help watch Eli for a few more months instead of the initial plan of sending Eli to daycare in September which was her original departure date... however, this place runs like a school and only has intakes once a year... the rest of the year, they accept new intakes only if someone leaves. As such, Eli will be going to daycare beginning September 8th... I will not lie, I am so nervous about that...
I'm not sure if he'll cry at daycare but Mummy sure will when I drop you off :(

Pretty blue eyes.

Week 6

May 19, 2009

Not much happened this week, no weigh in since his next wellness visit is June 8th! I don't see it, but he has grown... simply because we've graduated to bigger outfits and he can no longer wear "Newborn" sized diapers. Perhaps it is because I see him everyday or perhaps it is just me unable to come to terms with the days slipping by so quickly!

At 6 Weeks, his personality, likes and dislikes definitely shows... he loves bath time, especially when he gets to soak in his baby tub (instead of the kitchen sink!), he kicks and splashes with the most adorable cooing sounds.

Hurry up Mummy, it's nap time.

Baptism

This past Sunday wasn't only special because it was Mother's Day, it was also Eli's Baptism and it was a wonderful day with all friends and family joining us to celebrate the special occasion.

All ready for my big day.

All dressed to the nines and with a royal wave for my loyal subjects.

Being baptised... I didn't even cry... felt like the baths that granny gives me!

Father Mike says I am a good boy.... although I am getting cranky in this pic as I was tired of being passed around for the picture taking sessions.

Shine, little boy, your life has just begun... with the Lord by your side, you'll walk in the sun.

Shine, little boy, in God's heavenly glow... feel His grace lift you up, His love help you grow.

Shine, little boy, feel His warm, tender touch... you're safe in His hands, He loves you so much.

Our sweet baby boy shines in the light of our little family and in the light of God's love. This day was indeed so very special and filled with many blessings!

5 weeks

We took Eli to the doctor today just for a follow up to make sure he was feeding right and we were doing all the right things and I'm happy to report that all is well and he seems to be thriving well. The only thing we need to work on is his day/night sleep schedule.... he sleeps a lot in the day and fidget at night as he wants to be played/be carried.

Weight check - 8 lbs 5 oz

Happy Mother's Day

What a priviledge it has been this year to join the ranks of other mothers who have borne, cared for or loved little and big children all over the world. It was an exhilarating feeling to proudly stand up holding my child when the priest called out for all mothers to stand for their blessing... in years past, I could only watch and long for the day to come and it finally did.

To all Mommies out there, hope your Mother's Day was special with your little blessings!

A little surprise from my darling son... oh and daddy :)

Pretty good handwriting for a 1 month old... keep practising son! :)

4 weeks

The little jelly bean is 4 whole weeks old today. We took him in for his weight check this morning and it is true, he's grown! He weighs in at 7 lbs and 12 oz in the buff. Also, he received his first piece of mail from the Social Security office... sob... my boy is growing up too quickly! Okay, need to go back to cuddle the boy before he packs up for college!

My eyes are still a pretty blue.

Loving on Daddy.
