Cord blood banking?

A poll to all you Mommies out there, Mr. J and I are deciding whether we want to do Cord Blood banking. Any thoughts? It costs approximately $2k upfront with $125 annual storage fee. We're thinking that we hope never to need this but if the unthinkable happens, we have a backup plan. Any of you have done this before? If so, let me know who you went with and how it went for you.

My husband and I banked our last child's cord blood. We went with a company called MiracleCord. They had a couple different plans and we went with the flexi-plan which at that time ('08) cost us $1595.00 and the first year of storage was included. We will pay $120/year after that.
Their customer service was outstanding and knowing we have these lifesaving stem cells for our family is very reassuring.
Hope this was helpful to you. Good luck on the upcoming birth of your child.

After looking at the website for MiracleCord I discovered two things:
they've only been actually operating for less than a year and

Lainie Mercurio, who posted and recommended them, is their marketing person so I wouldn't take her words as very credible, but rather underhanded.
